You’ve been ready to say it from an age
some would call sad. Goodbye, goodbye
world that had never really let you in.
You’ve been expecting Him and Death, too,
has been expecting you to give in. But that was
before him.
Hearing a goodbye is always heavy, heavier
than the world which it makes heavy, but
never heavier than with a heart readily given
with it. You raise your gaze and lose
the only home you’d had in a world
which was ready-made for you but
never fitting.
Never thought you’d be on the receiving end
like this; yes, you’d lost those you called home before
but never lost love born freely and truly and more
freely and truly than anything you’d ever believed
or not believed in. And you believed him.
So, a revelation, a script gone wrong. Script finally
thrown away from the hands that had seen him
bound and burst and scathing in a pyre you’d
had to compile with your own bound up hands,
watching home burn away once more. And now
he’s unbound but gone, and what are you left with
except the same hands to bury your head in?
some would call sad. Goodbye, goodbye
world that had never really let you in.
You’ve been expecting Him and Death, too,
has been expecting you to give in. But that was
before him.
